Diese Europäische Norm gilt für passive oberflächenmontierte Glasbruchmelder, die in Gebäuden installiert sind, und sieht vier Sicherheitsgrade von 1 bis 4 (siehe EN 50131-1) für exklusiv oder nicht exklusiv verdrahtete oder drahtlose Melder vor und verwendet die Umweltklassen I bis IV (siehe EN 50130-5). Diese Europäische Norm enthält keine Anforderungen an passive oberflächenmontierte Glasbruchmelder, die für Außenanwendungen bestimmt sind. Gegenüber DIN EN 50131-2-7-2 (VDE 0830-2-2-72):2014-10 wurde in 6.7.4 der Winkel und in Anhang A die Dicke der Standardverglasung geändert.
