Das Verfahren nach dieser Norm dient der Bestimmung der Wärmeleitfähigkeit bei Raumtemperatur von Kohlenstoff- und Graphitmaterialien. Es können sowohl Formkörper als auch Material in gekörnter Form, Gewebe und Folien mit einer Wärmeleitfähigkeit von 0,1 bis etwa 250 W/(K · m) geprüft werden. Das in dieser Norm festgelegte Verfahren ist auch zur Bestimmung der Wärmeleitfähigkeit bei Temperaturen bis etwa 100 °C geeignet.
