Die Norm gilt für Räume, die mit einer Abschirmung aus Beton umschlossen sind (Heiße Zellen) und in denen der Normalbetrieb ohne Fernbedienungsgeräte abläuft. Bei dem Normalbetrieb handelt es sich im allgemeinen und chemische Prozesse mit radioaktiven Stoffen oder um Lagerung flüssiger radioaktiver Stoffe (z.B. Zwischen produkte, Abfälle). Diese Zellen werden im folgenden kurz Prozeß- und Lagerzellen genannt. Die Norm enthält Anforderungen an solche Zellen.
