Diese internationale Norm behandelt die Sicherheit elektrisch betriebener gewerblicher Strahlungsgrillgeräte und Toaster. Die Geräte sind nicht für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke bestimmt, ihre Bemessungsspannung beträgt nicht mehr als 250 V für Einphasengeräte, betrieben zwischen einem Außenleiter und dem Neutralleiter, und 480 V für andere Geräte. Strahlungsgrillgeräte oder Toaster mit Einrichtungen zur rotierenden oder geradlinigen Bewegung und ähnliche Geräte zum Grillen durch Strahlungswärme wie z. B. Gyrosgrills, Salamander usw., fallen ebenfalls unter den Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm. Zusätzliche Anforderungen für Geräte mit motorbetriebenen beweglichen Teilen sind im Anhang ZE aufgeführt.
