Diese ÖNORM ist zusammen mit ÖNORM S 5230 anzuwenden und enthält Bestimmungen für Dosimeter mit Ionisationskammern, Zählrohren und Szintillationsdetektoren, die zur Messung der durch Einstrahlung von außen verursachten Personendosis, der Ortsdosis oder der Ortsdosisleistung infolge von Röntgen- und Gammastrahlung dienen. Für Dosimeter, welche ausschließlich als Warnfunktion die Überschreitung von Dosis- oder Dosisleistungs Grenzwerten akustisch und/oder optisch anzeigen, ist diese ÖNORM sinngemäß anzuwenden.
