Die angegebenen Gleichungen und Bestimmungsgrößen gelten für außenverzahnte Zylinderräder und Zylinderradtriebe mit evolventenförmigem Zahnprofil. Bei Beachtung der Vorzeichenregel können sie auch für Innenverzahnungen verwendet werden. Die Gleichungen gelten weiters für den abmaßfreien Nennzustand sowie den Fertigzustand der Verzahnung. In diesem Teil der Norm sind die Grundlagen der Verzahnungsgeometrie zusammengefaßt. Im Teil 2 sind die Prüfmaße und im Teil 3 Abmaße und Toleranzen zusammengestellt. Im Beiblatt 1 sind alle Gleichungen zusammengestellt.
