Diese Internationale Norm gehört zu einer Reihe von Normen, welche die Probenahme und die Prüfung von Lacken, Anstrichstoffe und ähnlichen Beschichtungsstoffen behandelt. Sie legt ein Prüfverfahren fest, nach dem bestimmt werden kann, ob ein Ein- oder Mehrschichtsystem eines Anstrichstoffes oder eines ähnlichen Beschichtungsstoffes unter Standardbedingungen nach einer festgelegten Trocknungszeit den Durch-trocknungszustand erreicht hat, d. h. eine ja/nein-Prüfung. Das Prüfverfahren kann auch dazu benutzt werden, die für die Erreichung dieses Zustandes erforderliche Zeit zu bestimmen.
