Die Norm enthält eine Prüfmethode zur Bestimmung der Lochleibungsfestigkeit von Bauholz bei Verwendung stiftförmiger Verbindungsmittel (Bolzen, Nägel, Stabdübel u.ä.). Als Bauholz gilt im Sinne dieser Norm sowohl Vollholz als auch Brettschichtholz und Holzwerkstoffe. Die Prüfung wird an einem Probekörper (rechteckiges Prisma) vorgenommen, in welchem ein stabförmiges und steifes Verbindungsmittel so eingebaut ist, daß seine Achse normal zur Prismenoberfläche verläuft. Das Verbindungsmittel wird senkrecht zu seiner Stabachse belastet (Druck oder Zug), das zu verwendende Prüfgerät ist genau beschrieben. Die Prüfung erfolgt durch konstante Laststeigerung bis zum Bruch oder bis zu einem festgelegten Höchstmaß der entstandenen Eindrückung.
