Diese Norm beschreibt Anforderungen an Auslegung, Herstellung, Ausführung, Sicherheit und Leistungsvermögen (Wirkungsgrad und Emission), Anleitungen und Kennzeichnung zusammen mit zugehörigen Prüfverfahren für die Typprüfung von häuslichen Herden für feste Brennstoffe. Diese Norm gilt für Feuerstätten, deren Hauptfunktion das Kochen und deren weitere Funktion die Beheizung des Aufstellungsraumes ist. Heizungsherde liefern auch erwärmtes Brauchwasser und/oder erwärmtes Wasser für zentrale Heizungsanlagen. Diese Feuerstätten können entweder feste mineralische Brennstoffe, Torfbriketts, Holz oder Mehrstoff-Brennstoffe nach den Anleitungen des Feuerstätten-Herstellers verfeuern.
