Die äußere Rohroberfläche von erdverlegten Rohrleitungen kann durch Umhüllungen aus Kunststoffmaterialien vor Korrosion geschützt werden. Es können auch Fehlstellenabdeckungen vorgenommen werden. Diese ÖNORM legt für Korrosionsschutzbänder, wärmeschrumpfende Korrosionsschutzmaterialien und Füllmittel aus Kunststoff sowie die entsprechenden Grundiermittel die Anforderungen, die Prüfmethoden und die Bestimmungen für die Gütesicherung dieser Produkte sowie deren Kennzeichnung fest. Für den gesamten Aufbau einer Rohrumhüllung werden die Anforderungen und Prüfungen in der ÖNORM B 5252 festgelegt, wobei der Verbund aus Produkten gemäß ÖNORM B 5250 aufgebaut ist.
