Rohre aus dem Werkstoff Stahlfaserbeton sind sowohl für Druckleitungen (Wasserleitungen) als auch für Freispiegelleitungen (Abwasserleitungen) verwendbar. Die dem Beton beigemischten Stahlfasern erhöhen vor allem dessen Zugfestigkeit, wodurch die Rohre einer höheren Scheiteldruckbelastung standhalten als herkömmliche (unbewehrte) Betonrohre (ÖNORM B 5070). Die übrigen mit ÖNORM B 5073 an Stahlfaserbetonrohre gestellten Anforderungen, wie Maßgenauigkeit, Aggressivitätsbeständigkeit, Wasserdichtheit, Dichtheit der Verbindungen und Trinkwassertauglichkeit, sind dieselben, wie sie auch an unbewehrte Betonrohre und an Stahlbetonrohre (ÖNORM B 5071) gestellt werden. Auch hinsichtlich der Gütesicherung - ÖNORM B 5073 sieht eine Kennzeichnung gemäß § 3 (2) Normengesetz 1971 vor - gelten dieselben Bestimmungen.
