Diese Norm spezifiziert Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für unverbleite Ottokraftstoffe, wie sie in den Ländern der CEN-Mitglieder gehandelt und vertrieben werden. Diese Norm gilt für die Verwendung in Ottomotoren, die für den Betrieb mit unverbleiten Ottokraftstoffen geeignet sind, einschließlich solcher mit Anlagen zur Reduzierung von Schadstoffen. Alle Anforderungen gelten gleichermaßen für unverbleite Normal- und Superkraftstoffe, es sei denn, es ist anders vermerkt. Die Anforderungen für Normalkraftstoff gelten nur, falls ein solcher auf dem Markt ist.
