Diese Internationale Norm gilt für die Basissicherheit und die wesentlichen Leistungsmerkmale von Beatmungsgeräten zusammen mit deren Zubehör, deren Kombination nachfolgend als ME-Gerät bezeichnet wird und die - zur mechanischen Beatmung davon abhängiger Patienten unter Aufsicht professioneller Bediener bestimmt sind und die - für den Gebrauch in Intensivpflegeumgebungen in einer gewerblichen Gesundheitseinrichtung und beim Krankentransport innerhalb einer professionellen Gesundheitseinrichtung vorgesehen ist. Diese Internationale Norm gilt auch für Zubehör, das vom Hersteller für den Anschluss an ein Atemsystem oder an ein Beatmungsgerät vorgesehenen ist, weil die Eigenschaften dieses Zubehörs die Basissicherheit und die wesentlichen Leistungsmerkmale des Beatmungsgeräts beeinträchtigen können.
