ÖNORM CEN/TS 15844-4 defines the representation of ID-tags as a Postal-4i symbology 4-state bar code printed on the front side of flats. Many of the provisions are applicable also to small letters and are therefore referenced by part 5 of the standard (S18-5), which covers these. Postal-4i symbology 4-state encoding is the only encoding specification supported by this standard for the printing of ID-tags on the front of items.
