Accessibility of buildings

Steps leading up to the entrance door, poorly marked glass walls and too narrow passages...

Are just a few examples for structural barriers making life difficult for disabled persons.
Standards lay the necessary foundations making it easier to avoid such obstacles already when buildings and their environment are planned.

The current state of the art is set out in ÖNORM B 1600. It makes life easier not only for disabled people, but also for children, elderly people and persons who carry heavy loads or whose mobility is temporarily impaired.
