ÖNORM L 1136

This Austrian Standard defines principles and requirements for the vertical greening of buildings. This standard applies to the planning, execution and maintenance of perennial greening of wall and building surfaces outdoors. This standard also includes wall greening with plant troughs, which are set up or hung on walls. This standard can be applied to the greening of pergolas, dry stone walls, gabions, noise barriers and self-supporting structures. It also applies to steep walls with a slope of 30° to 150°, which can generally be planted with greenery. Pitched roofs from 30° to 45° are not facade construction methods and are neither dealt within this standard nor in ÖNORM L 1131. The greening of earthworks, roof areas and terrain modelling is not the subject of this Austrian Standard. Building seals and building insulation are not part of this Austrian Standard.
