This ÖNORM sets national requirements to EN 1991-1-4 and is for Austria to be applied jointly with the ÖNORM EN 1991-1-4. This ÖNORM set rules for the determination of natural wind actions for the design of buildings and engineering structures for each considered load platen. This part is suitable for predicting the characteristic wind loads for buildings standing on land, their components and attachments. Various aspects that need to be considered for the determination of the effects of wind on a building depend on the location and the availability and quality of meteorological data, terrain category and so on. This part contains no evidence to account for local thermal effects on the wind characteristics, such as strong Arctic inversion layers, channeling or hurricanes.
