Austrian Standards and the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE) have renewed their co-operation in the field of standardization and the sale of normative products. The two presidents, o.Univ.Prof. DDr. Walter Barfuß (Austrian Standards) and Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Franz Hofbauer, MBA (OVE), signed the related agreements together with Austrian Standards' Director DDr. Elisabeth Stampfl-Blaha a few days ago in Vienna.
"On this basis, the long-standing partnership between the two standardization organizations – with Austrian Standards being responsible for the general field and OVE for the electrotechnical sector – continues with a modern contractual structure," emphasized the two presidents.
This re-organization of the contractual relations was necessary because of the changes brought about by the Standardization Act 2016 and the amendment to the Electrotechnical Act. Co-operation in the field of standardization essentially relates to regular exchanges of information, e.g. on common subjects at the European level in order to avoid duplication for the benefit of standards users as well as enterprises and organizations participating in standardization.
Moreover, the two organizations plan to set up joint committees if these exist at the European and/or international level. They also agreed to co-ordinate activities in the field of European telecommunications standards as OVE and Austrian Standards are members of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
Important for standards users: All the publications of OVE are also available from Austrian Standards – to allow for one-stop shopping.
