Univ.-Lektor RA Dr. Walter Schwartz is attorney-at-law and senior partner of the law firm SHMP Schwartz Huber-Medek Pallitsch Rechtsanwälte GmbH that he co-founded. In his work, he focuses on constitutional and administrative law and, in particular, procurement law and contract award procedures, public private partnerships, gambling and sports betting law as well as state-aid law and European Union law. On these topics, he teaches at the Faculty of Law of Vienna University, gives presentations and publishes papers in specialized media. Walter Schwartz serves on the board of the Vienna Juridical Society and is a member of the Austrian Jurists’ Association (ÖJT), the Austrian Society for Legislative Science (ÖGGL) and the Austrian Society for Administrative Sciences (ÖVG). Dr. Schwartz chaired the supervisory boards of various enterprises – e.g. Wiener Stadthalle Betriebs- und Veranstaltungsgesellschaft.
For the legal expert, standards contribute to the non-discriminatory implementation of the internal market and thus promote the European idea. His personal approach is characterized by precise analyses and focused problem-solving expertise. Since Dr. Walter Schwartz has joined the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International 2019, he has advocated that standardization should consistently move from defining merely minimum standards to developing high-quality standards so that “the population is protected and European enterprises stay competitive,” says Walter Schwartz.
