For Urs Fischer, standards are "indispensable conventions that exert a sustainably positive influence on interactions between the economy and society." Positive leadership forms part of the self-perception of the CEO of the Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV). He is used to taking a fact-based, constructive and solution-oriented approach in management. The graduated aviation and mechanical engineer worked as a manager in the aerospace and packaging industry for 15 years before he joined the SNV as deputy director and head of standardization and international relations in 2001.
Swiss-born Fischer has ample experience in the fields of strategic, operational and project management, excellent social skills and access to a wide network. Urs Fischer served on the administrative and technical boards of ISO and CEN for several years and is a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards.
