Since his retirement in 2009, Ing. Peter Diatel has chaired the Technical Committee of the Austrian Industrial Gases Association (ÖIGV) as a part-time activity. For almost 30 years, he has worked as a safety engineer and department head (health, safety and environment) in the field of technical and medical gases in international enterprises. In the course of his Europe-wide activities, Diatel also took part in different technical bodies of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). For the engineer specializing in occupational safety, health and environment, standards are "of fundamental importance for the safe design of technical facilities and the definition of controlled work processes."
Against the backdrop of globalization, Peter Diatel advocates that the technical know-how available in Austria is input even more intensively into international standardization in order to positively influence the substance of European and international standards. Diatel contributes his long-standing experience and expertise to the discussions of the Presidential Council as well as national and international standardization committees. Peter Diatel is married,has two sons and five grandchildren.
