Mag. Jean-Marie Reiff is director of the Luxembourg Institute of Standardization, Accreditation, Security and Product and Service Quality called ILNAS for short. After graduating from the University of Innsbruck, the microbiologist has been active in the civil service of Luxembourg for around 25 years. Being responsible for copyright and patent law at the economic ministry, he developed the national accreditation agency that he has headed for seven years and then, from 2007 on, the agency for accreditation, standardization, market surveillance, metrology and digital trust. As director of that institution – ILNAS – Jean-Marie Reiff has represented Luxembourg's interests in the European and international standardization and accreditation organizations ever since.
During many years of participation in working groups of the European Council and the European Commission as well as active contributions to European regulations and directives, he has gained extensive expertise and recognition in these fields. For Reiff, standards are a key element for reducing barriers to trade, improving the safety and quality of products, promoting their interoperability and ensuring fair and equal conditions for competition. Jean-Marie Reiff has been a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards since 2018.
