Biochemist AR Ing. Helmut Richter works in the field of plastics technology and environmental engineering at the Testing Centre of Technologisches Gewerbemuseum (TGM), one of the biggest technical secondary schools of Austria. He specializes in packaging of hazardous goods and the suitability of materials for drinking water and heads quality control at the accredited Testing Centre. For more than 30 years, he has contributed to the development of standards and has been responsible for TGM-wide standards management for which Technologisches Gewerbemuseum received the Living Standards Award in 2016.
Moreover, Helmut Richter serves on various working groups of ministries and associations (e.g. Austrian Association for Gas and Water, German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water, Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering – oib). Richter who is also a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards as the elected representative of committee chairpersons defines standards as a generally accepted description of solutions for a product, operation or process. In his spare time, Richter supports the Volunteer Fire Brigade, among others, as an expert.
