Dir.i.R. Dipl.-Ing. Heinz Wanda is a freelance consultant and a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International. The graduated telecommunications engineer joined the then Wiener Schwachstromwerke in 1962 and worked for the company’s current owner Siemens AG Österreich, most recently as director of worldwide sales of sound and studio equipment as well as head of the central technology department with a focus on standardization and quality assurance, until his retirement in 1999.
Apart from his professional activities, Dipl.-Ing. Wanda has always worked in standardization. He chaired several committees of Austrian Standards International and the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE), served as the Austrian delegate on the Technical Board of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) for many years, and was member of CENELEC’s Administrative Board for ten years, including three years as the president of CENELEC. Heinz Wanda collaborated in the planning team for the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien and headed a study programme there after the university’s successful establishment. In addition, he taught at TU Wien for more than 20 years and was active as an expert in the electrotechnical studies commission for a long time. For many years, Heinz Wanda has served on the Management Board of TÜV Austria. As a consultant, the expert has supported Austrian Standards International for many years and promoted the objectives and practical applications of the EU’s technical regulations in Eastern European countries. For the future, Dipl.-Ing. Wanda wishes to see globally respected standards to technically cope with climate protection.
