Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Eva M. Eichinger-Vill manages the Austrian Road Safety Fund and heads the Road Safety and Infrastructure Safety Management Department at the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology. The main priority of her work – ensuring the reliability of road traffic infrastructure – covers not only the assessment of road conditions and the load-bearing capacity of civil engineering structures but also the improvement of road safety with regard to people, vehicles and infrastructure. Eichinger-Vill is a civil engineer and, in addition to graduating from the TU Wien (Institute of Structural Concrete), she also studied in the USA (Austin, Berkeley) and Denmark (Copenhagen).
Apart from German, she also speaks English, Italian and French and has long-standing experiences in national and international standardization. The manager sees standards as essential factors for ensuring fair framework conditions for business, society and the environment, assuring quality and creating trust and safety. Eva M. Eichinger-Vill serves on the supervisory boards of Großglockner-Hochalpenstraßen AG and Schieneninfrastruktur-Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH and is a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards. Moreover, Eichinger-Vill, who is also a qualified mediator, teaches at the FH Campus Wien and the Graz University of Technology.
