Christoph Winterhalter who graduated in computer science is chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) in Berlin. After working in numerous positions in engineering, development and product management in Norway, the USA and Germany, he served as director of the German Corporate Research Centre at ABB and was responsible for a global business division of the energy and automation technology group. Winterhalter is an expert for automation, digitization and robotic products. He wants to draw on his long-standing industrial experience gathered in an international corporation in order to advance the digital transformation of standardization.
For him, standards form the "basis of our quality infrastructure today and are one of the most important prerequisites of successful digital transformation.“ Christoph Winterhalter also promotes the successful development of standardization and its openness to new subjects and methods in his function as Vice President Policy of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), as an ISO Council member and as a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards.
