The physicist Hon.Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Mag. Brigitte Bach, MSc heads the Telecommunications and New Buisness Fields division of Wien Energie. Before that, she managed the Center for Energy at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) for ten years, which conducts research on key issues of energy infrastructure and has internationally recognized know-how on smart grids and smart cities. Other milestones in her career were arsenal research, the predecessor of AIT, where Brigitte Bach built the required research competency as a business segment head and previously, the management of the Austrian Institute for Ecology. Key strengths of the top manager are excellent communication skills, strategic thinking and assertiveness.
For her research activities and her efforts for the efficient use of energy, the native Viennese was named Austrian of the Year 2009 by the daily Die Presse. Bach serves on the Expert Advisory Board and as the chair of the System Integration Advisory Board of the German Copernicus projects preparing the energy transition, is a member of the Smart City Wien steering group, juror in the international Mission Innovation programme and teaches at the TU Wien. She is active in numerous other national and international expert bodies and networks and has also been a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards since 2018.
