Dr. Bogdan Topić is president of SIST, the Slovenian Institute for Standardization. The graduated physicist has more than 20 years of experience in standardization. Bogdan Topić conducted research in experimental solid-state physics and phase shifts of ferroelectric crystals. He held managerial responsibility in organizations such as Gorenje, the European Space Agency (ESA) and TÜV Bavaria. The passionate tennis player and pianist has long-standing expertise in developing, restructuring and privatizing enterprises and in implementing quality management systems such as the EFQM model.
After Slovenia declared independence in 1991, Topić, who in addition to Slovenian, speaks Serbian, Russian, German, English, Italian and French, was entrusted with managerial tasks at the Standards and Metrology Institute of Slovenia (SMIS) as well as the Slovenian Development Company (SDC). The father of two served on the board of numerous research and industrial enterprises and represents SIST in the bodies of ISO, IEC, CEN, CENELEC, ETSI and ITU-T. Dr. Bogdan Topić also contributes his extensive expertise to the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International.
