SenR Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Jarolim heads the competence centre for construction research, building regulations, engineering services and standards in the Executive Group for Construction and Technology of Vienna’s Chief Executive Office. The graduate of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences has worked in leading positions in the Vienna city administration for 20 years. He served as head of Municipal Department 25 — Urban Renewal & Inspecting Authority for Residential Buildings – where he managed the Support and Communication Unit and headed the unit for rental value and value-in-use calculations in Municipal Department 40 – Real Estate Evaluation and Assessment.
As an executive, Bernhard Jarolim has always made efforts to ensure that managers have the standards they need so that they can optimally orientate processes to quality management. He sees far-reaching standardization as a vital requirement with great benefits and value for civilized and organized society. For the speed-seeking downhill mountain biker and skier, the focus is on people as well as on fair and clear communication. An unbiased approach to people and challenges are essential to him. His motto is “Those who can laugh together can also work together.” Jarolim is responsible for the centralized management of standards in the Chief Executive Office and decides in which standardization committees the City of Vienna participates. SenR Bernhard Jarolim has contributed his expertise in housing and building law and his long-standing experience as a top manager in the administration of a metropolis to the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International since 2019.
