Mag. Arno Ebner heads Division III – Consumer Policy of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection. During his career, the law graduate and registered mediator held positions in businesses – for example with Austrian railways ÖBB and as the managing director of a printing company – and Parliament before his present function in the Federal Ministry. The communicative native of Carinthia sees himself as an all-rounder and facilitator. The father of one daughter visited the Ukraine and China on study trips.
For Arno Ebner, standards are an important complement to legislation as they lay down details and close gaps apart from general legal requirements. Since they reflect the state of the art, their application enhances legal certainty for enterprises. Moreover, standards are an important help for consumers in making decisions with a view to safety and quality. “Given increasing technical complexity, rapid innovation and globalization, standards will continue to play a significant role in defining specific requirements for products and services,” explains Ebner. Since 2019, Mag. Arno Ebner has been a member of the Presidential Council of Austrian Standards International.
