Austrian Standards in brief
Austrian Standards stands for the Austrian Standards Institute (with the divisions Development and Consulting) founded in 1920 as well as for its subsidiary Austrian Standards plus GmbH (with the divisions Publishing, Training and Certification) founded in 2008.
Both companies are headquartered in Vienna and employ a total staff of 123 persons (as per May 2010).
It is headed by President Univ.-Prof. DDr. Walter Barfuss, Managing Director Ing. Dr. Gerhard Hartmann and Deputy Managing Director DDr. Elisabeth Stampfl-Blaha.
The Austrian Standards Institute is the Austrian member of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Austrian Standards manages a unique network about 5 900 experts to bring together their manifold knowledge and expertise. Thereby, the Austrian Standards Institute creates the basis for the development of generally accepted standards.
